“Big Brother” recap: [Spoiler] Kicked out of season 24, week 4

Somebody call Marie Kondo, because Big brotherThe 24th season of messy.

To be clear, I say this with the greatest appreciation for the mess: Big brother has been stuck in a predictable rut, let’s vote with the house for many seasons, and it’s a pleasure to see the opposite situation play out here. But between Kyle’s misguided show with Alyssa, Nicole’s correct suspicion that most of the Remainers work together, and, of course, Daniel’s foolish decision to use the power of veto and endanger his #1 ally, this week in the BB home has been undeniably (and wonderfully) chaotic.

Let’s break down how the week ended, with Nicole unknowingly ready to be robbed ahead of Thursday’s episode:

THE STRATEGY | The veto meeting ends with Nicole and Taylor now on the chopping block, and Taylor’s tears of frustration are right: she’s irritated that the veto was used to save Alyssa and Indy when she thought the nominations stayed the same. , and her faith in The Leftovers seems to have taken a hit since she wasn’t told about the switcheroo. Nicole, meanwhile, is feeling “euphoric” to be on the block, so there you go.

But shortly before the veto meeting, Kyle had gone upstairs to warn Monte that Daniel “100%” was planning on using the veto. The night before, Nicole had visited HOH’s room and found six of the seven remains – in other words, everyone but Kyle – hanging out in there, which made her convinced these six were in a covenant. With Monte and Taylor unable to vote this week, Nicole and Daniel feel like Taylor will only have four votes to stay, when in reality she will have five (Kyle being fifth), and Monte would break a potential tie in Taylor’s favor anyway. So while it’s not ideal for Taylor to see the block for the umpteenth time, The Leftovers know privately that Daniel “played himself”, as Joseph puts it, by using the veto this time around.

Other highlights from the pre-recorded segments: After doing it with Terrance last week, Nicole reveals to Indy, Alyssa and Jasmine that she was a cop, which she seems to think is game-changing information; Kyle and Alyssa hit one of the Big brotherthe cutest showmances (flirting in the bathroom! Make it stop!); and after learning of some of the remains that Nicole could not have the votes to stay, Indy, Alyssa and Jasmine weigh their options, hoping to keep Nicole but significantly more desperate to just be on the right side of the house vote this week. They float, these three there!

EXPULSION | When it comes time for the eviction, Taylor gets a little spicy in her pre-vote speech, telling Nicole, “To quote Big brother Superfan Rihanna, you look then stupid right now. (!) She reminds Nicole how smart she thought it was to choose Taylor as her Festie Bestie, unaware that her own date, Daniel, would ultimately be responsible for her downfall. (Nicole looks like she’s taking it all in stride, but after Taylor sits down, the women exchange a smile that cries“I can’t stand you!”)

In the end, it’s only Daniel who has Nicole’s back: she’s kicked out by a 9-to-1 vote, but she hugs everyone on the way out and tells Julie she’s “not at all surprised to learn of The Leftovers, since she had already correctly identified six of its seven members. She also calls Taylor’s pre-vote speech “incredible and comical” and “nothing but the truth,” considering Nicole did thinks she could manipulate others, including Taylor, to stay in the game.

And because we’re seemingly destined never to have a live householder contest again, the episode instead ends with Taylor choosing Alyssa and Indy as her new Festie Besties. Daniel, meanwhile, heads to one of the bedrooms alone, remarking that he should pack his bags right away. Moments earlier, he had told Nicole in his farewell message that he would not be leaving the Big brother home without a fight… but he seems to feel a little differently now.
